Art is music, Art is a painting. Art is graphic design. Art is photography. Art is song. Art is a mural. Art can even be graffiti.
Art serves a purpose. Art conveys a message. Art can change the world. Art can start a movement. Art is a leader in activist movements across the globe. While art can be done for enjoyment, catharsis, distribution for the sake of personal profit or gain, or a variety of other purposes, art can also change our perceptions. It can inspire us to join a movement or change the way we think. It can spark a change in the way we perform daily activities and the people and organizations we associate with regularly. We define an activist as one who attempts to bring about political or social change, or a change to the dominant norms. They can seek to preserve a culture — past or present — law, or perception, too. Art functions within movements born from the activists' minds, often in the name of social and economic justice, egalitarianism, peace and love. Art gives a voice to the voiceless apart from voting, politics or the legal system. Art can build and support a movement.
